![]() In between waves of enemies, you can run around and repair broken turrets, make upgrades, and so on. ![]() ![]() There is a lot of strategy at play here as you try and create massive death zones to stop the monsters in their track. You have a tower defense style of gameplay where you have to place various turrets around to keep the monsters at bay. The gameplay of Monster Outbreak is a mixture of different styles. A very fitting soundtrack ties it all together, which helps make this a real joy to play. The fantasy world that has been created here is full of color and wonder and I think that the various monster designs are all a lot of fun too. It has a retro top down style to it and I think that it looks absolutely fantastic. When I first saw the graphics of Monster Outbreak, it was The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past that I was reminded of. We play as Yula and she is the one who needs to try and stop the monsters and return the land back to the way it once was. Of course, something like this was always going to have a sinister edge and now monsters are appearing all over the land. There was this magical dimensional orb that promised to grant amazing wealth, knowledge, and advancements and it did just that. ![]() The plot of Monster Outbreak is kind of fun and the kind of thing you could see a Saturday morning cartoon being based around. Thankfully, I have grown very little (in terms of maturity I mean) so the whole style of this game still appeals to me now! While I was pulled in by the title and the graphics, it is the deep, fun, and challenging survival and tower defense style gameplay that kept me interested. Back when I was a kid, if I saw a game with Monster Outbreak on the box in the game store, I 100 percent would have picked it up! The reason I say that is because as well as the title, this game has a style that would have greatly appealed to me as a kid. ![]()
